Detectives say Tyree Moorehead, 46, was armed with a knife on top of the woman in the intersection of N. Fulton and W. Lafayette Avenues around 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6, according to Baltimore police.
Officers arrived on scene and verbally commanded Moorehead to get on the ground, where he got on top of the woman. One officer discharged his weapon, striking Moorehead several times.
An officer was able to relocate the woman to safety while another officer rendered aid to Moorehead. Medics responded to the scene and transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The woman was treated on the scene by medics for minor injuries.
Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) and the Maryland Attorney General’s Office responded and will conduct a joint investigation.
